Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse-256 (2:256)

لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ

“There shall be no coercion in matters of faith”

This verse comes immediately after the ‘Ayat-ul-Kursi’ in the Quran.

This way of writing Quranic verses is called a Kufic square. Designers across the Muslim world turn Quranic verses into such squares or rectangles. These are meant to be read anti-clockwise, beginning from the bottom-left corner, moving towards the center, much like a sea-shell.
